¾cupold-fashioned oatmeal
¼cuplight brown sugar
¾teaspoonground cinnamon
¼cupunsalted butter, cut into pieces
¼cupwalnuts (optional), lightly toasted and chopped
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 ℉
Place oatmeal, butter, cinnamon and brown sugar in a medium bowl. Using your hands, cut the butter into the dry ingredients until only small pieces of butter remain (about the size of a pea). Stir in walnuts if using.
Make a large well in the center of each apple. Use a paring knife or serrated spoon to create the well. Place apples in a rimmed baking dish.
Spoon ¼ of the oatmeal mixture into the well of each apple.
Bake for 20 minutes. The filling will be bubbling and lightly browned.
