Ingredients

Gather the following ingredients to make this easy chocolate sauce recipe:

  • Water
  • Corn syrup
  • Cocoa powder - sift to remove any lumps, ensuring a smooth chocolate sauce
  • Water
  • Chocolate - use bittersweet chocolate chopped into small pieces (chocolate chips are fine to use)
  • Butter - use unsalted, softened butter

Instructions

Follow the easy steps below to create this homemade chocolate sauce that's perfect for serving with a variety of desserts:

1 - Combine water, sugar, corn syrup and cocoa powder in a saucepan.

2 - Place saucepan over medium heat. Stir slowly and constantly until the mixture comes to a low boil.

3 - Remove pan from heat. Add butter and chocolate. Stir until smooth and glossy.

4 - Transfer to a heat-resistant container and let cool slightly before serving.

Storage

Store the chocolate sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. If you want to keep it longer, you can freeze it for up to two months.
