ingredients needed to make Oreo bark recipe for St. Patrick's day including chocolate, Oreos, candy melts and sprinkles

Prepare pan for Oreo bark

An important step to making your Oreo bark is preparing your pan so the bark can be removed easily once it’s set. Here’s how to do it:

  • Use a 9x9-inch square pan which is at least 2 inches deep.
  • Cut two pieces of parchment paper, each large enough to cover the bottom and sides of your pan.
  • Lay one piece in the pan, then place the second piece on top, crisscrossed in the opposite direction. Make sure to leave some parchment hanging over the edges of the pan to create "handles." These handles will make it easy to lift the bark out once it is set.

Before you start this Oreo bark recipe, make sure you gather the following tools to make the process even easier:

  • Microwave-safe bowls
  • Measuring cups
  • Rubber spatula

Storage

Store the Oreo bark for St. Patrick's Day in an airtight container at room temperature, keeping it away from heat. It will stay fresh for up to a week. When stacking bark pieces in the container, be sure to place sheets of wax paper between them to keep them from sticking together.

If you want it to last longer, you can refrigerate it for up to three weeks. For even longer storage, wrap the bark and freeze it for up to two months. When you’re ready to enjoy it, let it defrost overnight in the refrigerator.

Top Tip

Be cautious when melting candy wafers as they can scorch easily if overheated or heated too quickly. To ensure the best results, follow the manufacturer's instructions on the packaging closely. Using low and steady heat, whether in a microwave or on the stovetop, will help prevent burning and keep the texture smooth.
